This week-end found me in Saint John

As a newly published author, I thought it was necessary to meet with other authors.

The goal of a writer’s retreat is to have time for uninterrupted writing. We were fortunate to be able to have a one-on-one with a writer instructor of renown. Heather Browne, MFA in creative writing, gave me ideas of next steps in promotion. So grateful.

We spent the entire evening of Friday to noon on Sunday writing. There maybe another book in the making, but not for awhile. First thing is to promote my book.

Learning about Libraries and author registration

I am happy to say that a Librarian from Mount Allison was also present and has taken two copies, for which, I will get paid, to add to a collection at the university for writers from this greater area.

Heather introduced me to the Public Lending Right website, where authors get paid when a book is loaned from a library. Naturally, I registered. Next move is to get more books into libraries.

Villa Madonna

Staying in Saint John, at Villa Madonna, was pleasant. The cook there is amazing, the food delicious and plentiful. That was also a treat. Beds are clean, and very comfortable. Great walking area, and the weather was perfect for driving!

Being the farthest from the kitchen meant I also got my walking steps in. Important when you are writing all day and evening.  What a treat to have meals prepared for you also.

Computer

There is nothing wrong with my computer, which I thought there was when working from home. Internet speed in my room was awesome. It certainly made it better for writing and checking things online.

Until next time, thanks for reading.
